A splint is indicated to immobilize the distal interphalangeal joint of the fingers in an extension or hyperextension position in cases of trauma, fractures, tendon injuries, postoperative immobilization, or arthritis affecting the interphalangeal joints.
The bottom part covers from the distal area of the finger to beyond the distal interphalangeal joint and is shaped like a thimble to accommodate the fingertip. The upper part leaves the nail area free and reaches the distal interphalangeal joint.
