Tube with EDTA (Ethylenediaminetetraacetic Acid), generally tripotassic or dipotassic, for hematology determinations in whole blood.

EDTA inhibits the coagulation process by removing calcium from the blood. It reduces platelet activation by protecting platelets during the contact of blood with the inner glass surface of the tube.

It is the ideal additive for performing leukocyte, platelet, and erythrocyte counts and also for determining the leukocyte formula, flow cytometry and lead determination, as it preserves the morphology of the blood cells.
