Shock waves are acoustic waves that carry high energy, transmitted through the surface of the skin and radially diffused in the body, in the area of pain.

SWT Shock Med is a radial (ballistic) shock wave, as the shock wave is generated by a special gun-shaped head, whose barrel is closed by a metallic cap against which a steel projectile is launched, using compressed air (up to 5 bars of pressure).

In this way, a shock wave is generated that spreads, expanding radially in the skin and in the first layer of tissue, or in a focused way (depending on the transmitter used). The body responds with an increase in metabolic activity in the application area, promoting the reduction of inflammation caused by a pain-relieving action induced by the release of endorphins, thus stimulating and accelerating the healing process. The depth of penetration varies from 4 to 7 cm.
