Osteoporosis model

Osteoporosis is presented in an extraordinarily educational way by comparing osteoporotic and healthy dorsal vertebrae. It is an ideal model for medical training and patient sessions.

Features:
- The dorsal vertebrae presented are 11 and 12.
- On the left side of the base, the pieces corresponding to the two osteoporotic vertebrae with a compressed intervertebral disc are presented.
- The upper vertebral body is separated in the mid plane. The magnetically fixed vertebral half can be easily removed to view the cross sections.
- It also allows to perfectly recognize the sinking of the vertebral body or loss of bone substance during osteoporosis and as a consequence of it.
- It shows degenerative bone changes in the form of osteophytes. On the right side of the base, two identical pieces of healthy vertebrae with an intervertebral disc are presented for comparison.
- The upper half of the vertebral body is also magnetically fixed and can be removed.
- The vertebrae represented are complemented with respective adhesives on the base that show two micro-CT three-dimensional images obtained by bone biopsy.
- The images clearly show the microarchitecture of the osteoporotic bone and its reduced bone density compared to a healthy bone.
