Dermabond Advance 0.7ml Topical Adhesive. Box of 6 units.

The topical adhesive Dermabond Advance is indicated to help close wounds caused by surgical incisions, punctures from minimally invasive surgery, and simple lacerations caused by trauma. It can be used in conjunction with deep dermal sutures, but it does not replace them. 

It is a liquid topical adhesive that contains a monomeric formulation (2-octyl cyanoacrylate) and D&C Violet No. 2 dye. It is supplied sterile in a single-use applicator in a bubble pack that will keep the product sterile unless it is opened or damaged. The pen-like applicator consists of a breakable glass ampoule contained inside a plastic applicator. 

When applied to the skin, the product has a viscosity similar to that of syrup and polymerizes in a matter of minutes. Scientific studies have shown that after application, the adhesive acts as a barrier to prevent microbial infiltration into the healing wound. 

The product should not be re-sterilized nor placed in packages or trays that require sterilization before use. Exposure to excessive heat (such as in autoclaves or ethylene oxide sterilization) or radiation (such as electron beams or gamma rays) increases its viscosity and could render it unusable.
