Chirafix is a suture designed to provide effective, long-lasting, and reliable closure to surgical wounds. It consists of a needle with a round body and a semicircular shape, and a strand of polydioxanone. The needle, made of resistant materials, is inserted into tissues precisely and fluidly, even in those of greater hardness or density. The strand, produced from polydioxanone, has barbs all over its surface to ensure optimal adhesion and has a lifespan of about 210 days; after this period of time, it naturally degrades and is reabsorbed by the body.
